Pizza Express

The Triangle shopping centre is situated within a listed building which was Manchester's former Corn Exchange; it is here that Pizza Express acquired the site within the basement to set up their new flagship restaurant in the trendy shopping quarter of the city.

The fit out was undertaken whilst the shopping centre was fully operational, transforming the basement into a light and spacious contemporary restaurant. Glass entrance doors were fitted within the existing listed, grand stone and granite columned entrance, greeting diners at street level and enticing them down a feature staircase to the main restaurant.

A bright, airy feel is created by the use of stainless steel fittings, contrasting with the white painted walls and white tiled floor, which was fitted complete with under floor heating. Leather upholstered seating booths create intimate places for diners to linger.

The ceilings are a particular feature of the restaurant with Iroko detailing and ribbons of curved plasterboard suspended from the structured soffit, cleverly disguising extensive mechanical and electrical installations. The kitchen was fitted out with stainless steel fixtures and equipment with granite surfaces and serving area.

McGoff & Byrne Ltd. have enjoyed a longstanding and successful partnership with Pizza Express Restaurants throughout the North, North West and the Midlands. The majority of these projects were negotiated with the client to facilitate a 'quick start' on-site.
