In the heart of Manchester’s popular Castlefield area, Barça is one of Manchester’s original “Urban Chic” bar-restaurants built partly within the old Victorian brick railway arches.
The project to re-fit the bar with a completely new look was undertaken in minimum time. The scheme has given the bar a new lease of life. Mood lighting and steel patent glazing allow entire sections of the building to change colour creating a variety of atmospheres.
The original work included providing bar facilities over all floors with dining areas on the second and ground floors. The building was extended using an aluminium clad structure to provide a new beer cellar, function room and bar area. A new and more spacious open plan kitchen was also added. The toilet facilities were enlarged and new fittings were installed.
The end result provides intimate surroundings with plenty of exposed brickwork and displays by local artists. All this lends to the exclusive air desired by the restaurant owners, ensuring it will continue to be one of Manchester’s premier night spots.
