M&B Appointed to Design & Build Great Sankey High School

McGoff and Byrne wins a £4.5m contract to Design & Build the new 6TH Form College at Great Sankey High School for Warrington Borough Council. In a pioneering move McGoff and Byrne have implemented an engagement strategy with the schools students and teachers.
McGoff and Byrne were awarded this exciting projected following a 3 stage qualification process.
As part of the award process, a student panel was established to assist in interviewing companies bidding for the contract.
Sustainability and Innovation are at the heart of the design of new building, with McGoff and Byrne implementing a sustainability strategy that encompasses the BREEAM Very Good Environmental Accreditation as well as Education, Employment and Community benefits within the locality.
Both McGoff and Byrne and Great Sankey High School are committed to utilising the design and build process as a learning tool, and as such aim to engage students and local community throughout the project.
Great Sankey is an Engineering College, Science, Technology, and Maths also form major parts of the College curriculum. Students will attend design meetings and produce Health & Safety induction videos, forming part of their education diploma.
Dave McGoff, Commercial Director said; “The Great Sankey project is a great example of raising the bar in terms of stakeholder engagement and anticipate that it will be well received within the local community”

He added “Smaller Businesses can represent better value to public sector clients; I genuinely feel an increase in public sector spend with locally based SME Contractors, who embrace their corporate and social responsibilities will increase productivity within the economy as well as benefiting the government procurer.
McGoff and Byrne, have worked on numerous Education projects throughout the North West and have preferred supplier status with the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford.
